Abstract submission for the 12th Annual ICORD Conference  and the 6th China Rare Disease Summit, September 7-10, 2017, Beijing, China


Late-breaking abstract submission deadline:
ICORD allows for the submission of late-breaking abstracts, covering ground-breaking
research results that were not available by the regular submission deadline. Please note that the number of abstracts accepted as late-breaking submission will be limited. All submissions must be completed by this time: August 10, 2017 11:59PM (GMT+8)


Research and/or studies must fit into one of the following categories:
1 Global Rare Diseases Patient Registry
2 Clinic Care & Research Progress on Rare Diseases
3 Precision Medicine in Rare Diseases Diagnosis and Treatment
4 Translational Medicine and Orphan Drugs R&D
5 Health Policies of Rare Diseases
6 Formation and Accomplishment of Patient Organizations
7 Global Collaboration and Joint Action on Rare Diseases


Presentation format: Poster presentation; oral presentation may be available for outstanding abstracts

Guidelines for Abstract Submission


All abstract submissions must be made electronically through the official website of the conference (www.icord2017.com) online abstract submission system. The late-breaking abstract submission deadline is August 10, 2017 11:59PM (GMT+8).


1. Eligibility
a) Research and/or studies must fit into one of the ICORD Abstract Review Categories:
i. Global Rare Diseases Patient Registry
 ii. Clinic Care & Research Progress on Rare Diseases
iii. Precision Medicine in Rare Diseases Diagnosis and Treatment
iv. Translational Medicine and Orphan Drugs R&D
v. Health Policies of Rare Diseases
vi. Formation and Accomplishment of Patient Organizations
vii. Global Collaboration and Joint Action on Rare Diseases


b) Any of the following criteria will make an abstract ineligible for presentation at the 2017 ICORD:
i. Data are publicly available via major search engines (such as PubMed, Google Scholar, etc.);
ii. Data are accepted for publication before the abstract submission closing date;


c) Updated analyses will be considered only if the abstract is a significant extension of previously published work. The author must provide an explanation to show how the abstract contains significant new information.


2. Responsibilities of the Presenting Author
a) The first author listed for each abstract serves as the presenting author and as the primary contact for all correspondence regarding the abstract, unless otherwise specified under the “Contact Information” section of the online abstract submission system.


b) The presenting author must be one of the co-authors listed on the submitted abstract.


c) The presenting author is responsible for the following:
i. Ensuring that all authors have read the abstract and agreed to be co-authors. Failure to get approval from all authors will result in rejection of the abstract.
ii. Notifying all co-authors of any additions, deletions, and changes to the program, as may be communicated by ICORD.
iii. Obtaining all of the conflict-of-interest disclosure and copyright transfer information from co-authors.


3. Before you Begin
Register a free account in Conference Service Platform, all submission shall be completed using your account.


Have the following information available:
a) Abstract Information
i. Review Category (see Eligibility)
ii. Keywords
iii. Abstract Text (within 500 words, NOT including tables and figures. Medical and research abstract shall be submitted in a four-paragraph manner, i.e. including Objective, Method, Result and Conclusion)
iv. Abstract File (doc/docx format, including title, key words, abstract text, conflict-of-interest disclosure of EACH author. Author information should NOT be included in the file (see General Guidelines).


b) Person Information
For each author listed on the abstract
i. Name
ii. Affiliation
iii. E-mail Address
iv. Mailing Address


4. General Guidelines
a) Once you have submitted the author information, a draft of your abstract will be saved, and you will be able to return to edit and update it at any time until August 10, 2017 11:59PM (GMT+8).


b) No revisions can be made after the abstract submission deadline.


c) Authors are required to upload a file containing their complete abstract (including title, key words, abstract text, conflict-of-interest disclosure of EACH author. Author information should NOT be included in the file.).

d) Abstracts cannot be submitted without completion of the "Submission Information", and will not be reviewed unless eligible abstract file is uploaded.


e) Notification regarding acceptance or rejection of abstracts will be sent to the presenting author by August 15, 2017 by e-mail; you can also manually check for acceptance from your personal homepage in the submission system.


f) If the first author wishes to withdraw an abstract, a written request must be submitted no later than 20 August, 2017 to Sun Xiaoning (Peking Union Medical College Hospital (East), No.1 Shuaifuyuan Wangfujing Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. Tel: (+86) 18101056181). Written requests received after that date will only be considered on a cases-by-case base.


5. Abstract Review and Selection Process
a) After the submission deadline, all completed and eligible abstracts will be made available to the ICORD Abstract Reviewers for blinded review and scoring, and final decisions will be made by August 15, 2017.


b) Abstracts will be evaluated according to the scientific or institutional merit of the abstract, originality and adherence to instructions. Abstracts submitted to the wrong category are scored in that category and usually fare poorly.


c) The same study must not be submitted as multiple abstracts. Abstracts that are simply different versions of a single study will be rejected.


6. Presentation format
a) Presenting authors whose abstracts were to be accepted must prepare for poster presentation, detailed information on poster design and presenting layout will be provided along with notification E-mail of acceptance.


b) Outstanding abstracts may be awarded with opportunity of oral presentation in the corresponding tracks of the Conference, award information will be provided along with notification E-mail of acceptance.


7. Please note:
All presenting authors and other authors who wish to attend the meeting need to register to ICORD Annual Conference 2017. Access to the Conference will be available when payment is properly settled. Confirmation message of abstract submission shall NOT be considered as certificate of registration in any way.
